Jonah Morse Evans

EVANS, JONAH M., January 22, 1897 – September 29, 1975

Funeral will be held at noon Thursday at the Malad LDS First Ward Chapel for Jonah Morse Evans, age 78, who died Monday, September 29 at Bannock Memorial Hospital in Pocatello after a short illness. Bishop Myron Jones will officiate.

Mr. Evans was born January 22, 1897 in Pleasantview, Oneida County, a son of Jonah and Jane Morse Evans. He married Thelma Jones November 26, 1919 in Malad and the marriage was solemnized April 1, 1926 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Mr. Evans was a farmer, electrician and plumber. He was a member of the Malad Lions Club. An active member of the LDS Church, he served in the Sunday school, Elders Quorum, was a member of the Pleasantview Bishopric, a Boy Scout Master, High Priest group leader, Superintendent of Mutual, Stake Missionary, worked in the Stake Sunday School and was a Ward teacher for over 27 years.

He is preceded in death by a son, Jonah Evans, Jr.

Survivors include his widow, Malad; four sons and two daughters; Rex Dean Evans, Portland, Oregon; Robert J. Evans, Las Vegas, Nevada; Edison J. Evans, American Falls; Melvin J. Evans, Ketchum; Mrs. Kleal (Jane) Price, Malad; Mrs. Perry (Ila Deil) Bird, Santa maria, California; 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
