JOHN TREASURE

DOWNEY – John Treasure died December 21, 1985 in the Marsh Valley Hospital. He was born July 18, 1902 at Hawkins Creek, son of James and Ada Jane Wakley Treasure. He was reared and educated in Hawkins Creek until he was 17, when his family moved to March Valley.

He married Mattie Williams, Dec. 13, 1930 in Preston. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 4, 1966.

He farmed in the Marsh Valley area all of his life. He was also road overseer of county roads for many years. After his retirement he moved to Downey where he was living at the time of his death.

He was a member of the LDS Church. He was a member of the Big Onion Assoc. He loved horses and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Downey; five sons, Monte Treasure, Aberdeen; Sheldon (Tad) Treasure, Ogden, UT; Robert Treasure, Malad; Barry Treasure, Idaho Falls, and Ron Treasure, Stillwater, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ella Faye) Jones, Ogden, UT; and Mrs. Junior (Marilyn) Naef, Downey; one brother, Dave Treasure, Malad; 30 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services were held December 24 in the Downey First Ward LDS Chapel with Counselor Junior Nael officiating. Burial was in the Downey City Cemetery.
