Jessie P. Cota

BLACKFOOT – Jessie Perdash Cota, 94, of Fort Hall, died Nov. 10, 1990, at Bannock Geriatric Center in Pocatello of natural causes.

She was born March 13, 1896, at Washakie, Utah, to Johnny Fly and Cohn Zundel Annebooey. She received her education at Washakie.

She married Nephi Perdash at Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. He died in 1955. In 1959 she married Dorotheo Bravo Cota at Blackfoot. He died in 1978.

She moved to Ogden in 1942 and back to Washakie in 1949. In 1959 she moved to the Blackfoot area and to Sacramento in 1967. She returned to the Blackfoot area in 1977. She raised a grandson, Gaylan Dixey.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and she participated in the Indian Elderly Nutrition Program. She enjoyed cooking, canning, traveling and bead work.

Survivors include a daughter, Fern Dixey of Fort Hall; 67 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 13 children, a brother, a sister, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Tyhee LDS Church with Bishop John Parks officiating. The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hill-Sandberg Funeral Home in Blackfoot and again Wednesday for one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Washakie Cemetery in Washakie, Utah.
