MEMORIAL SERVICES HELD FOR CWO JESSE D. PHELPS

Memorial services were held in Ft. Meyer, Va., January 5th, for CWO Jesse D. Phelps, 29, who was declared dead December 29th after being reported missing in action on Dec. 28th in Vietnam.

CWO Phelps was the son of Jesse E. and Maxine Fisher Phelps, Emmett, and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Pewtress, Ogden, Mrs. Phelps is a native of Samaria.

A memorial marker will be placed in Arlington National Cemetery in his memory. CWO Phelps and five other crew members died in a helicopter crash in the An Khe Valley. None of the bodies was found.

A native of Ogden, CWO Phelps was born Oct. 1, 1937, at Ogden and attended Nampa schools. Besides his parents and grandparents, he is survived by his wife, Dolores Eyteitison, whom he married at Boise June 20, 1955; four children, Ronald, 10, Jeffrey, 8; Daniel, 7, and Lori, 5, all of Boise; two brothers, Airman 1/C Paul Phelps, stationed in Germany, and Howard Phelps, Emmett.
