Agnes Lucille Evans Pett, 17 May 1913

Agnes Lucille Evans Pett, 89, of Malad, passed away September 20, 2002 in Malad. She was born May 17, 1913 in Malad, a daughter of Thomas D. and Jennie Mae Morgan Evans. Lucille was raised and educated in Malad and later attended Albion Normal School, Utah State and College of Idaho.

She received her teaching degree in Elementary Education. Her first job was in a one room school house in Buist, ID. She married Ezra Taft Pett on May 1, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised their family on a farm in Parma, ID and were members of the Nyssa, OR LDS 1st Ward. She taught school at Nyssa Elementary School for many years.

In 1981, Taft and Lucille returned to live in Malad. Mr. Pett passed away in December, 1981. Lucille loved to travel and enjoyed sharing her pictures and memories of her trips. She had also enjoyed her volunteer work at Malad Elementary where she helped students learn to read.

Lucille was also a volunteer worker at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers museum. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in various callings.

Lucille loved the missionary program and had supported many missionaries through the years.

She is survived by her children: Stanley Taft (Judith) Pett, West Valley, UT; Marvin Evans (Dianne) Pett, Malad; Clayton Reed (Brenda) Pett, Nyssa, OR; Thomas Lynn (Georgia) Pett, Orem, UT; and Marceal Pett Hansen, Las Vegas, NV; 27 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; a sister, June Ward, Malad.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Taft, a sister, Gwen and a granddaughter, Christine Pett.
