MALAD, Idaho – Ezra Taft Pett, 66, of 525 N. 200 W., died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1981, in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

He was born Sept. 10, 1915, in Mendon, Utah, a son of Charles Bruce and Anna A. Anderson Pett.

He was reared and educated in Arbon Valley, Idaho.

He married Agnes Lucille Evans on May 17, 1939, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

After their marriage, they lived in Malad for a short time. They then purchased a farm near Nyssa, Ore.[Oregon], which he operated for 41 years. He had also worked for Amalgamated Sugar Co. for 25 years.

He returned to Malad in 1981.

He was a member of the LDS Church and had served as Sunday School president and elders quorum president. He had been a home teacher over 40 years. He was a high priest in the Malad 3rd Ward.

Surviving are his widow of Malad; four sons and one daughter, Stanley Taft Pett, Salt Lake City; Marvin Evans Pett, Malad; Clayton Read Pett, Nyssa, Ore.[Oregon]; Thomas Lynn Pett, Orem; Mrs. Terry (Marceal) Hansen, Oak City, Utah; 22 grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother and six sisters, Bruce J. Pett; Mrs. Fred (Catherine) Cox, Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. Vadel (Marie) Swenson, Malad; Mrs. Gladys Alexander, Glendale, Ariz.[Arizona]; Mrs. Wilma Garner, Ontario, Ore.[Oregon]; Mrs. Duke (Bette) Hipp, Nyssa, Ore.[Oregon]; Mrs. Jim (Karen) Sutton, Parma, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Malad 3rd Ward Chapel with Bishop Garth Sweeten officiating.

Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 12 noon until services. Burial in the Malad City Cemetery.
