Funeral Friday For Mrs. Niels Petersen

Funeral services for Mrs. Jennisena Caroline Ipsen Petersen, 73, who died at the Oneida hospital Wednesday [April 4, 1951] after a week’s illness, will be held at the Malad Second Ward chapel Friday, April 6, at 1 p. m. with Bishop A. G. Willie in charge.

She was born Oct. 31, 1877, at Mantua, Utah, a daughter of Jens and Karen Hendricksen Ipsen. She was reared and educated at Mantua.

She was married to Niels Petersen in December, 1908, in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. temple. She and her husband then moved to Ovid, Bear Lake county, Ida.[Idaho], where Mr. Petersen had a homestead. While there Mrs. Petersen was active as a counselor to the president of the Relief Society and also worked in other church auxiliary organizations.

In 1918 the family moved to Samaria, Idaho where they engaged in farming until 1945. During their residence there Mrs. Petersen filled a short term mission for the L.D.S. church in the Northwestern states.

October 1, 1945, Mr. and Mrs. Petersen retired from farming and moved to Malad where Mrs. Petersen has since resided; Mr. Petersen died April 1, 1946.
During her active life until her last illness Mrs. Petersen devoted much of her time caring for the sick in each community in which she lived.

Mrs. Petersen is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Arden Christiansen, Pocatello; six grandchildren and one great grandchild and a brother, Louis Ipsen[sic], Brigham City, Utah.

Friends may call at the family home at 40 Bush Ave. Thursday evening and until Friday at funeral time.

Burial will be in the Pleasantview cemetery directed by the Malad Funeral Service.
