James Chandler Waldron, (1932)

WALDRON, JAMES CHANDLER, January 30, 1932 – May 31, 2008

James “Jim” Chandler Waldron, 76, husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away May 31, 2008. He was born to Nat and Leah Waldron, January 30, 1932 in Preston, Idaho, the third of eight children.

James married Jean Hansen June 8, 1959 in the LDS Logan Temple. Together they had six children and currently have 17 grandchildren.

He earned a degree in aeronautics from Idaho State University before being drafted into the Korean War. He then graduated from Utah State University and moved to Las Vegas in 1961 to begin a teaching career. He taught auto mechanics, driver’s education and behind the wheel training at Western High School for 35 years.

James was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in several leadership positions, including scout and youth leader, Bishop and Stake Presidency. He served in the West Central States Mission, Tallahassee, Florida Mission and in the Las Vegas, Nevada Mission. He was currently serving in the LDS Las Vegas Temple.

James was always helping others and was admired by many. He will be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years; two daughters, Kathy (Bill) Dunham and Connie (Russell) Norton; three sons, Bill (Tina) Waldron, Stephen (Janell) Waldron and Glen (Allyson) Waldron; 17 grandchildren; five sisters, Phyllis, Mada, Leahmae, Helen and Gwen; and one brother, Monte.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Acie; and son, Walter Nathaniel.

Funeral services will be on June 5, 2008 at the Lorenzi Chapel, Las Vegas, Nevada. James will be laid to rest in Samaria, Idaho.
