J. Fred Gleed

GLEED, J. FRED, April 19, 1922 – April 17, 1969

Bishop Earl Gillies conducted funeral services for Probate Judge J. Fred Gleed, 46, who died at his home of a heart ailment.

Family prayer was offered by Elder Deon Jacobson; the invocation by Bishop Lon W. Corbridge and the benediction by Bishop Colen H. Sweeten, Jr. Speakers were Bisshop Jesse Hughes, Ralph Harding and Bishop Gillies, who read the obituary. Special musical numbers was furnished by Jenkins Palmer, who sang a solo and Foster Ipsen and Leora Brown, who presented a duet. Prelude and postlude music was played by Myra Jean John, who also played the accompaniment.

At the Malad City Cemetery, Raiford G. Benson offered the dedicatory prayer. Flowers were arranged by Fourth Ward Relief Society members, Roma Facer, president. Casket bearers were Brent Jacobson, Deon Jacobson, Phil Wheeler, Randy Sorensen, Dennis Thomas and Gene Jacobson. Honorary bearers were Oneida school bus drivers, Seventies Quorum and Malad Lions Club members. Interment was directed by Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Gleed was born at Malad April 19, 1922, to Joseph and Fern Haviland Gleed. He married Norma Sorensen June 10, 1942 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

He was Oneida County probate judge for the past eight years, and was a farmer. He was an active member of the LDS Church, and was a director for the Malad Lions Club. He attended malad schools.

Survivors include his widow of Malad; a son, Dennis F. Gleed, U.S.Army in Vietnam; a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Benda) Thomas, Malad; his father, Joseph, Malad; a grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Russell (Eva) Jacobson, West Jordan, UT.
