Isabel Davis Moss

MOSS, ISABEL DAVIS, February 21, 1907 – April 27, 2008

Isabel Davis Moss died April 27, 2008 at the age of 101. She was born February 21, 1907 in Malad, Idaho to Zephaniah and Isabel Izatt Davis.

She grew up on the family farm two miles west of Malad. She attended the schools in Malad through high school. She married Norval William Moss on March 26, 1924 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Malad until 1939 except for a couple of years in Woodruff and a year in Downey, ID. That year, they moved to Ely, NV. In 1941 they moved to Salt Lake City. This was their home except for short periods of time in Pioche, NV and Seattle, WA, until 1966 when they retired in Malad. After her husband’s death in 1968, she returned to Salt Lake City. She lived alone and took care of her apartment until after her 100th birthday.

She was a member of the LDS Church and was active in the Primary and Relief Society organizations. As a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers, she was very proud of her heritage. Her husband was a building contractor and she was the bookkeeper for the business.

She is survived by her four children: Glenna Hayes (Ken), Bill (Lila), Beth Boyle (Douglas, deceased), and Samuel D. (Sherlene). She has 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Samuel and Lester Davis; and sister, Grace Davis May.

Funeral services will be held May 1 at Goff Mortuary, Salt Lake City. Interment will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
