ILEAN CALL JONES
Ilean Call Jones, 90, of Blackfoot, returned to her Heavenly Father on April 23, 2012. She passed away peacefully at her home after an eight month illness with congestive heart failure and pulmonary hypertension.
Ilean was born on June 10, 1921 in Malad, ID. She was the only child born to Charles Edward Call and Gertrude Blaisdell. She enjoyed a close association with her half brothers and half sisters throughout her life.
She grew up and attended schools in Malad and graduated from Malad High School. Ilean lived in Malad and Ogden, UT prior to moving to Blackfoot in May, 1960, where she lived in the same house they purchased on Goodwin Drive nearly 52 years ago.
On December 15, 1939, she married jack Jones in Pocatello, ID and they celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversity last December. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls, ID LDS Temple on February 6, 1965, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Together they were blessed with four wonderful children: Jaylene, Jackie, Cary and Blane.
As a young girl and woman, Ilean loved to dance, participated in many athletic activities, became a fabulous cook, and was a wonderful homemaker. She also enjoyed bowling, camping, trips to Island Park and playing bridge with her friends. Ilean enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in their different school and recreational activities.
She worked with the Blackfoot School District school lunch program for 23 years and served as the kitchen manager at I.T. Stoddard Elementary School. She retired in 1986.
Ilean took great pride in her home and looked forward to decorating for the different holidays. She also liked watching the Utah Jazz, Dancing with the Stars, Jeopardy, the national news, and General Conference on television.
Her greatest joy and passion, however, was her family and she looked forward to seeing everyone and especially loved her great grandchildren when they came to visit.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings throughout the years. She really enjoyed her temple work at the Idaho Falls Temple. Faith and family were the foundation of her life.
Ilean was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and she cherished her family. She was a kind and generous woman, had a good sense of humor, and always worked very hard to make sure her family’s needs were taken care of. She was a great example of love, compassion, courage, principle and patience.
Her marriage and life were characterized by enduring faith, tremendous character, quiet dignity and steadfast integrity. Ilean was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. The love, support and guidance she gave her family will never be forgotten.
Ilean is survived by her loving husband, jack, of Blackfoot, and her four children: Jaylene (John) Walls of Spokane, WA; Jackie (Chuck) Graham of Blackfoot; Cary Jones of Blackfoot; and Blaine Jones of Blackfoot.
She also was the proud grandmother of three grandchildren: Jamie (Cade) Rindfleisch of Idaho Falls; Brandon (Summer) Jackman of Blackfoot; and Russell Hill of Spokane, WA; and eight great greandchildren: Sage, Carter, McKay, Ella and Crew Rindfleisch and Raegan, Dawson and Lexi Jackman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four half brothers, Lowell Hess, Russell Hess, Norvell Hess and Ives Jones; and two half sisters, Anona Dalton and Carma Gunter. Ilean was the last surviving member of her family.
Funeral services were held April 27, 2012 at the Blackfoot 2nd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Collin Cook conducting. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
The Jones family would like to thank the many co-workers, ward members, neighbors, friends, and relatives who have been an important part of her life. We also wish to convey our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the many acts of kindness, thoughts and prayers offered in their behalf.
Our special thanks to the health care professionals who have cared for Ilean, including Dr. Kirt McKinaly, Guss Grimmett and the Blackfoot Medical Center staff along with Blackfoot Home Health. The family wishes to express our gratitude to Heartwork Connections (Brittany Elliott) and the staff at Creekside Hospice for their kind and tender loving care of Ilean during the past eight months.
