Ida Mary Monroe Thorpe, (1919)

THORPE, IDA MARY MONROE, July 9, 1919 – March 28, 2008

ST. GEORGE – Our beloved mother, Idaho Thorpe, 88, passed away March 28, 2008 in St. George, Utah. She was born July 9, 1919 in Holbrook, Idaho, a daughter of Cecil Clarence and Elna M. Anderson Monroe.

Ida married Daniel LeRoy Thorpe on March 9, 1938 in Logan, Utah. This marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on December 18, 1953. They lived in Ogden and raised three children.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ida and her husband Roy served as temple workers in the St. George and Ogden temples.

She retired as an accountant from Hill Air Force Base.

Ida enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and hunting with her family and friends. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting and knitting.

Surviving are three children, Marilyn (Virgil) Brockbank, St. George, UT; Richard L. (Pattee) Thorpe, Rocklin, CA; Brent J. (Tami) Thorpe, Marietta, GA; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and sister.

Funeral services will be held Friday at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
