SERVICES TUESDAY FOR MRS. JANET THORPE

Funeral services for Mrs. Janet Elvira Thomas Thorpe, 82, who died November 19, 1966 at the Oneida Hospital were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Lon W. Corbridge officiating.

Family prayer at the funeral home was offered by Thomas Thorpe. At the chapel, Brent Thorpe offered the invocation and Melvin Fowers, the benediction. Speakers were Karen T. Hyer who read the obituary, H. Ward Thomas and Ralph W. Harding. Mary Rose Jones read an original poem.

Special musical numbers were solos, Jenkin L. Palmer and Eldon Corbridge; duet, June Crowther and Norma Gleed. Myra Jean John played the prelude and postlude and accompaniments.

Dedicatory prayer was offered by LaMar Thomas. Flowers were arranged by members of Third Ward Relief Society, friends and relatives. Casket bearers were L. Jay Nielsen, Jimmie Thorpe, Neil Thorpe, Jr., Jimmie Spackman, Michael Doutre and John T. Smith. Honorary bearers were Randy Udy, Tim Thorpe, Tom Thorpe, Brad Thorpe, Brett Spackman, Fred Doutre, Robert Doutre and Don Nielsen.

Benson Funeral Home directed interment at Malad City Cemetery.

Mrs. Thorpe was born March 19, 1884 at Malad, a daughter of Frederick and Ruth Price Thomas. She was married to Ephraim Thorpe, Dec. 16, 1903 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He died in 1942.

She was active in the LDS Church and belonged to the Daughters of Idaho Pioneers.

Survivors include five sons and five daughters, J. Tommy, Neil, William and Mrs. Irvin (Ruth) Rose, all of Malad; Lorin, Clem and Mrs. Leland (Mary) Nielsen and Mrs. John (Nadine) Udy, all of Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Donna Spackman, Pocatello, and Mrs. Edward (Lela)Doutre, Tremonton, Utah; 44 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Caldwell, Malad, and Mrs. Esther Bowen, American Fork, Utah.
