Hyrum L. Davis

Hyrum LeRoy Davis 62, died November 4, 1982 in the Veterans Hospital in San Diego, California. He was the son of the late Ray and Ruth Davis of Malad. He married Ruth Spainhour in May of 1942 in San Diego.

He joined the Marine Corps in November 1939. He served in Iceland, Greenland and in the Pacific Theather (sp. Theater). He was at the Iwo Jima Invasion and at the Battle of Tawrawa where he was wounded.

In 1946 he joined his father in the shoe repair shop in Oceanside, California, later he opened one of his own.

He came to Malad in 1961 and ran the shoe shop in Malad.

In 1963 he returned to San Diego area and opened a shop in Imperial Beach.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Davis, two sons, Lee H. Davis of Ogden, David Earl Davis of San Diego; one grandson, Michael Davis; two brothers, Arthur Davis, Boise, Idaho; Dick Davis, Malad, Idaho; three sisters, Cleo Schwartz, Malad, Idaho; Gloria Johnson, Everette Washington and Ruby Jones, Pocatello, Idaho.
