Hugh Thomas

HUGH THOMAS LAID TO REST

Last Friday afternoon the final rites in token of respect to Hugh Thomas, one of the pioneer citizens of Malad were performed at a service held in the tabernacle. Bishop Jensen presided at the service, and besides him, Pres. Richards, B.E. Jones and F.E. Jones were the speakers. The last two named gentlemen came across the plains at the same time as Mr. Thomas. The speakers all paid a high tribute of respect to the deceased. The tabernacle choir was in attendance and rendered several beautiful anthems.

Mr. Thomas was a native of Wales, but came to Malad in the year 1869 and has resided here continuously since that time. He was one of the oldest men in Malad as was held in the highest respect and esteem by all who knew him.
