HORATIO “SHORTY” THOMAS

MONTPELIER – Horatio Dredge Thomas, 98, died January 20, 1986 at a nursing home in Tooele, Utah.

He was born July 6, 1887 in Malad to George Sparry and Hannah Adella Dredge Thomas.

He married Mabel Kunz Dec. 18, 1912 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. She died in 1969.

In his younger years, he worked with his father at their sawmill. He later worked for his uncle as a farm hand. After his marriage, they moved to Montpelier where he worked on the railroad, then later started his own business as a house painter, which he did until his retirement.

He was a member of the LDS Church and was an elder at the time of his death.

He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Mariano, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Earl (Venita) Paget, Tooele; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Cecil Thomas and Lynn Thomas.

Funeral services will be Friday at noon in the Montpelier Fourth Ward chapel. Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
