Malad Valley’s Oldest Resident Dies at Washakie

Mrs. Hitope Joshua, 99, oldest person in Malad Valley, died at her home Washakie, Indian settlement south of Malad, Monday. She came to Malad valley in 1864 at Elwood. In 1877 she moved to Washakie and joined the L.D. S. church.
She and her husband went on a mission to Wyoming in 1900, being the first Indian L.D.S. Missionary. She made the missionary trip on horseback.
Her husband died 20 years ago. She was the mother of six children, all of whom are dead.
