Hazel Belle Jones Lusk


Tremonton, Utah, – Hazel Belle Jones Lusk, 99, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2005, of causes incident to age at the Bear River Valley Care Center in Tremonton, Utah.

Hazel was born August 1, 1906, in St. John, Idaho, the seventh of nine children of Margery Tovey and John L. Jones.

She married Cleon Henry Lusk in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on December 1, 1933. They lived in St. John, Idaho, for nearly all their marriage/

Hazel attended school in St. John and graduated from Malad High School in 1925. She then attended Idaho Tech in Pocatello, Idaho, for a year and began to teach the next year. She taught in Buist and Cedar Hill, Idaho.

In 1930, she graduated from Albion State Normal School with her life certificate to teach school. She then taught in Elkhorn, Idaho, and St. John. In 1965, she graduated from Utah State University. She taught for a number of years in Malad schools and retired in 1970.

Hazel loved to garden and had beautiful flowers. She belonged to a number of card playing clubs with friends in the Malad area. She loved to travel and was on the go all the time. She loved to bowl and won many awards. Hazel was also a wonderful cook.

She especially loved her family and spending time with them.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Price, Pocatello, Idaho, and Klea (Milton) Scott, Fielding, Utah; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Jane Jones, Malad.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, two great-grandchildren, her parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at the Malad Stake Center. Interment was in the St. John Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Horsley Funeral Home.
