MALAD–Hannah Isabel Caldwell Shurtleff, 71, Malad, a former Lava Hot Springs resident, died Saturday in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born May 23, 1913, in Malad, to John and Emily Rachel Vaughn Caldwell. She was reared and educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School.

She married Lawrence Stubbs Evans June 1, 1933, in Pocatello. He died March 15, 1952.

She married Bert Shurtleff Oct. 16, 1957, in Pocatello, and they were later divorced. She had lived most of her married life in Lava Hot Springs and for several years had worked in various restaurants.

She enjoyed doing handiwork and was a member of the LDS Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Valoy) Butterfield, Lava Hot Springs; Mrs. George (Bonnie Jean) Shuster, Hermiston, Ore.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, David Khalil Caldwell, Ogden; and one sister, Mrs. James (Mable) Westergard, Bountiful, Utah. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Funeral services held Tuesday at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home with Bishop Clarence Kent officiating. Burial in the Malad City Cemetery.
