Edith Sorensen

DOWNEY- Edith Wilding Sorensen, 76, died Friday, October 19, at her home in Downey.

She was born March 9, 1908, at Cambridge to Heber and Rozella Bybee Wilding.

She played basketball in high school and went to the AAU basketball finals in 1935 in Omaha. She was a librarian and coach in Downey 1929-30.

She married Kenneth C. Sorensen September 11, 1935, in the Logan LDS Temple.

She was active in all church auxiliaries and had served in the Relief Society presidency. She was noted for her beautiful penmanship and writing ability.

She is survived by her husband, Downey; four sons, Kenneth Brent Sorensen and Tim W. Sorensen, Downey; Terry C. Sorensen, Clovis, California and Gayland W. Sorensen, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl McBeth, Modesto, California. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherlene Sorensen.

Funeral services were Monday at 1 p.m. at the Downey LDS First Ward Chapel under the direction of Bishop Willis A. Varfuss. Burial was in the Downey cemetery.
