Hannah Smart

SODA SPRINGS-Hannah Ellis Stocking Smart, 72, died Wednesday at her home following an extended illness.

She was born May 29, 1909, at Malad to George Angus and Nellie Morgan Stocking. She married Frederick Floyd Smart on Oct. 26, 1932, in the Logan LDS Temple. She lived in Malad during her younger years. In 1932 she moved to Soda Springs, whre(sic) she had since lived, except for 17 years in Butte, Mont.

She graduated from Albion State Normal School and then taught school at Cedar Hill for two years. She was a member of the Soda Springs LDS Sixth Ward. She had served as primary teacher, Sunday school teacher, Relief Society visiting teacher and in various other positions.

She is survived by her husband; four sons, Don Frederick Smart, Nashua, N.H.; Ralph Vernon Smart, Soda Springs; Angus Alma Smart, Bozeman, Mont., and William Dean Smart, Ely, Nev.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Dr. R.A. Stocking, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Grant (Mary) Barkdull, Montpelier, and Mrs. Earl (Lorraine) Allen, Malad. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Hannah Ester, one brother, George, and one sister, Lydia Pisceviech.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Hooper LDS chapel in Soda Springs. Friends may call at the Allen Funeral Home Friday from 7-8 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.
