Bobbie BarDee Smith, 74 passed away in Provo, Utah on August 21, 2010 from complications of diabetes and a cardiac procedure.
He was born September 13, 1935 to Leon Herbert Smith and Ethel Arvilla John in Malad, Idaho. He spent his boyhood years in Glen Ellen and Napa, California. He married Carolyn Robina Reiser in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from USU with a Master’s Degree I n Special Education. He worked as a psychiatric technician for the State of California at Sonoma (CA) State Hospital, and as a special education and social studies teacher for 27 years in Occidental, CA, as well as a wrestling coach and girls basketball coach.
They retired to Highland, UT in 2001. He served an LDS Mission to the Southern States and he and Carolyn served a mission on the Navajo Reservation. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served as Scoutmaster, SS Teacher and President, Priesthood Quorum Advisor and YM President; member of a Bishopric and Ward Mission Leader. He received the BSA Silver Beaver Award for his work with youth.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years and three children; John (Christine) Samuel (Karen) and Heather (Brandon) Riddle and 12 wonderful grandchildren: Chanel, Braden, Sara, Elyse, Emma, Kaitlyn, Danielle, Trevor, Benjamin, Joshua, Haley and Taylor; his brothers Leon, Eldon (Eldena), Dale (Teresa) and one sister, Sharon (Don) Morris; his aunt, Clyda Smith and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Highland 8th ward Chapel, 10390 N. Alpine Hwy., Highland, Utah. Friends may call at the church Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Highland City Cemetery.
