Golden Wise

Golden Wise, 84, of Idaho Falls, died Feb. 10, 1992, at Yuma, Ariz.

He was born Feb. 16, 1907, at Downey to Joseph and Martha Abby Wardley Wise. He grew up in Downey, where he received his education.

On May 12, 1931, he married Rita Petersen at Malad. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple May 1, 1951. She died in 1976. He married Verlie Ashbaker May 2, 1977, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Idaho Falls during the summers and wintered in Yuma.

He had owned and operated the Oxford Hotel in Downey for several years and had also worked for Pacific Fruit Express in Pocatello.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and had served as a member of the bishopric.

Survivors include his wife of Idaho Falls; children, Joseph G. Wise of Aiken, S.C., and Mrs. Martin (Neva Rae) Cruz of Salt Lake City; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Ted (Sharon) Baker of Sun City West, Ariz., Mrs. Kenneth (Donna) Schow of Idaho Falls and Mrs. Louise Boyer of Salt Lake City; a brother and a sister, Velmar “Cec” Wise of Downey and Mrs. Cohn (Abby) Bloxham of Shelley; eight grandchildren; 12 great­grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at noon in the Idaho Falls LDS Stake Center, 1155 E. First St. The family will meet with friends at the Marsh Valley Funeral Home in Arimo Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church in Idaho Falls from 10 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in Downey City Cemetery.
