GLADE MASON NIELSEN
DOWNEY – Glade Mason Nielsen, 78, passed away on January 3, 2000 at her son’s home in McKinney, Texas after a long illness.

She was born June 26, 1921 in Willard, Utah to Mirl and Veda Barker Mason. Glade grew up in Howell, Utah, near Tremonton. While attending high school in Tremonton she met Hal Lamb Nielsen in 1938.

They were later married on July 29, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple, and spent 57 ½ years together.

Glade and Hal moved to Downey, Idaho in 1949, where she worked as a secretary at J. D. Morgan Implement Co. When Hal became wholesale distributor for Standard Oil Co., she worked as his secretary and accountant from 1951 until their retirement.

She was an active member of the LDS Church, and served as ward MIA president, stake activity counselor, ward Relief Society president and second counselor in the stake Relief Society, as well as holding various other church callings. Glade and Hal also served as officiators at the Logan LDS Temple for five years, which they dearly loved.

Glade enjoyed quilting, crocheting, pictures, cooking and gardening. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, and dedicated her life to taking care of them and being in the service of others.

She is survived by her four sons, Mac M. (Diana) Nielsen, Bonita, Calif., LaMont M. (Carma) Nielsen, South Jordan, Utah, Craig M. (Lynn Adele) Nielsen, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kelly M. Nielsen, McKinney, Texas; a daughter, Lori Lynn Nielsen, McKinney, Texas; a brother, Reese B. (Christine) Mason, Tremonton, Utah; two sisters, Marlene (Sharon) Archibald, Tremonton, Utah, Naone (Ken) Godfrey, Brigham City, Utah; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hal Lamb Nielsen, a daughter, Debra Jean Nielsen, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2000 at the Downey LDS Chapel. Friends may call at the Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview, Arimo, on Friday, Jan. 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at the church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Tremonton, Utah.
