Evelyn Nielsen

Evelyn Bolingbroke Nielsen, 85, formerly of 1335 North Garfield, passed away early Monday morning, February 10, 1992, in a local health care center following an illness.

She was born August 8, 1906, at Malad City, Idaho, to John H. and Beatrice Thomas Bolingbroke. The family spent the summer months on the ranch, and the winter months at Malad. She graduated from Malad High School in 1925.

She married Edison Jones, and they were later divorced. She and Clyde H. Watson were married December 29, 1945. While they were married, they lived in Twin Falls, Idaho. He died April 14, 1950. She moved back to Pocatello, where she lived the remainder of her life. She married Douglas K. Nielsen August 1, 1953 at Pocatello. He died January 19, 1982. Mr. Nielsen owned and operated the Nielsen Barber shop for many years.

Mrs. Nielsen worked at the Irving Grocery, The People’s Store and Fargo’s for many years. She enjoyed her flowers, music, concerts and basketball games.
She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and active in the women’s group.

Survivors include her son, Edison Dean Jones, and his wife, Marge, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, all of Pocatello; three stepchildren, Carolyn Driever, Pocatello, D. Kay Nielsen, California, and Gloria Doty, Bountiful, Utah. She was preĀ­ceded in death by a son, John Farrell, a sister, Beatrice Lawson, two brothers, Eph and John Bolingbroke, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 12, 1992, at 1 p.m. at Manning Funeral Chapel, 510 North 12th Avenue. Darrell Lawson, a nephew, of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiated. Interment was in the Mountainview Cemetery.
