George Joseph ‘Joe’ Goddard was born in Malad, Idaho, on March 8, 1935 [1938?] to John Goddard and Pearl Dalton Goddard. He passed away at home in Boise, Idaho, on January 8, 2015 He married Rosalie Larsen on October 14, 1956. Through the years they lived in Malad, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Island Park and Boise.
They had three sons: Derlin Joe, John Miles and Daniel Martin ‘Danny’.
Joe began working at Thiokol Chemical Co. in 1959 and was actively involved with the Bomarc production program until 1967. He also spent time working for his in- laws, Miles and Lily Larson in Arbon Valley maintaining their farm equipment. He operated a Chevron Service Station at Mack’s Inn for a number of years.
He had many talents and interests. Being an expert fly fisherman, he frequented the waters of Deep Creek, Henry’s Lake, Little Boulder, Blackfoot and Chesterfield. His passion was the elk hunt in the White Cloud Mountains and all wildernesses.
He is survived by his son, Daniel Martin ‘Danny,’ daughter-in-law, Jennifer Goddard, grandchildren: Brooke Leanne Goddard, Chance Goddard, Jennifer Dolphus-Jordan, Joshua Goddard, Dalton Wilson; great-grandchildren: Isabella Jordan and Isaac Jordan.
Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and exceptional friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial services are pending at Sugar City Cemetery at a later date.
