Malad-George Jerome Parsons, 77, longtime resident of Malad, passed away Sunday, March 26, 1995, at the veterans hospital in Salt lake City, Utah.

He was born Sept. 29, 1917, in Portland, Indiana, a son of John D. and Effie May parsons. He was one of 10 children, having four brothers and five sisters. George served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Ranger and the USS Missouri. He married Jo Anne Davis Allsop on October 20, 1977, and resided in Malad thereafter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne of Malad; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Pat) Bacon of Plainswell, Mich., and Mrs. Issac (Mary Jane) Dubbeld of Vicksberg, Mich.; one sister in-law, Rita Parsons, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two brothers, John Parsons of Montgomery Creek, Calif., and Chauncey Parsons of Portage , Mich.; also surviving are four stepchildren, Merle Alsop of Sandy, Utah, Mrs. Bob (Judy) Hobson of Malad, Max Allsop of Fallon, Nev., and Mrs. Chris (Colleen) Illum of Malad; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three step-children and two grandchildren from a previous marriage, who were very dear to him, Mrs. Barbara Roy of Ostego, and Kenneth Dee of Palinwell, Mich., and grandchildren, Mrs. Jeff (Laurie) Town of Ostego and Jan Jameson of Allegan, Mich.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, at noon in the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Malad. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 29, from 7 p.m. To 8 p.m. And on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. To 11;45 a.m. Burial will be in the St. Johns Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the American legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65.
