George Austin Palmer

PALMER, GEORGE AUSTIN, March 9, 1921 – November 30, 2004

George Austin Palmer, 85, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away November 30, 2004 on his farm in Malad, ID.

George was born on March 9, 1921 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was the son of Joseph and Ella Palmer of malad, ID. George attended school in Malad, graduating from high school and attended U of I at Moscow studying veterinarian medicine, having a deep love of animals. He served an LDS mission to the California Mission which included California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and part of Mexico.

In 1948 he married Norma Johnson in the Logan LDS Temple where they were sealed for time and eternity. They were blessed with seven children, five daughters and two sons. He spent his life working and enjoying his family on the family farm. His price and joy were his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and having them stay and work with him on the farm.

He was active in the LDS Church as a high priest, serving on the Stake Sunday School Board, as a Stake Missionary and other callings. He had a love of music, the outdoors and a great appreciation of friends.

He is survived by his wife, Norma of Malad; children: Maureen (Boyd) Stokes, Malad; Lynae (Lynn) Park, Ririe; Karalee Palmer, Idaho Falls; Tamra (Wayne) Raymond, Ririe; Delwyn (Shanna) Palmer, Castle Rock, CO; Blair (Heather) Palmer, Malad, son-in-law John Facer, Malad; 24 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Jean (Al) Thackery, Ogden, UT; newly found sisters, Norma Steiner, St. George, UT and LaFawn (Mark) Robinson, Cedar City, UT; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister, LaRue, and daughter, Julie.

Funeral services were held December 4, 2004 in the LDS Stake building in Malad, ID. Burial followed at the Malad City Cemetery.
