Erma Martin Evans Palmer, 4 August 1916

Our beloved Erma Martin Evans Palmer, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 2, 2003 in Salt lake City, UT.

She was born August 4, 1916 in Elkhorn, ID to Edith Tew Martin and Riley Alexander Martin. She grew up and lived all of her life in Malad, ID, with the exception of this past year when she moved and made new friends at the Cordia Senior Residence in Salt Lake City, UT.

She graduated from Malad High School in 1935. She worked at the Oneida IGA grocery store, J.C. Penney, and the ASCS office in Malad. She married Fay Jones Evans on July 4, 1936 in Malad. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on August 13, 1964. After Fay’s death on August 1, 1993, she married Jenkin L. Palmer on February 17, 1996. He passed away on August 30, 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Valena Martin Bennett and Edna Martin Harris.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Evans Jensen (Ren), Fort Collins, CO; her son, Gary martin Evans (Kathy), American Fork, UT; eight grandchildren, Kirk, Callie, Kristy, Beckie, Angela, Valerie, Wendy and Melinda; and 21 great grandchildren, who all loved her dearly.

She is also survived by two step sons, Tom Palmer (Edna), Malad, and Stanley palmer (Janice), Idaho Falls; a foster step son, Sherm Facer (Nancene), Layton, UT; and a special cousin, D.A. South, Salt Lake City; step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Relief Society president.

Erma was known for her hospitality to friends and family and was a patient caregiver to many in their times of illness. Her family get togethers for holidays, such as Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July, will remain as precious fond memories.

Funeral services were held July 7, 2003 in the Malad LDS Fourth Ward Chapel. Burial followed in the Malad City Cemetery.
