SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR GEORGE THOMSON

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the LDS First Ward chapel for George Ariston Thomson, 71, who died July 28, 1956 at the Oneida Hospital.

Bishop G. Howard Neal officiated at the service. Invocation was offered by Bishop Hubert Gleed, benediction, William H. Rutter; dedicatory prayer, Ruel Ipsen. Musical numbers consisted of prelude and postlude, Mrs. May Williams; vocal solos, Thomas Jenkin Jones, Leora Brown, Jenkin Palmer. Jonah Evans gave the obituary and remarks and Bishop Neal gave closing remarks. Speakers were Bishop D. Dredge Thomas and Joseph M. Isaacson. Casket bearers were Mr. Thomson’s sons, George E. Thomson, Robert E. Thomson, Silas E. Thomson, Melvin E. Thomson, Richard E. Thomson, Ren E. Thomson and Roy E. Thomson.

Mr. Thomson was born November 26, 1884 at Laketown, Utah and educated at Laketown and Logan. On July 29, 1903, he married Rose Evans at Pleasant View and they resided there for 27 years while Mr. Thomson was engaged in farming. They moved to Malad 16 years ago and Mr. Thomson was employed at the Oneida County Grain G rowers at the time of his death. A member of the LDS Church, Mr. Thomson was active in MIA and Boy Scout work.

Surviving are his widow, Malad; seven sons and two daughters, George E. Thomson, Salt Lake City; Robert E. and Ren E. Thomson, both of Malad; Melvin E. and Roy E. Thomson, both of Ely, Nevada; Richard E. Thomson, Boise, ID; Mrs. A.R. (Margaret) Davis, Rigby, ID; Silas E. Thomson, Phoenix; Mrs. S.V. (Ruth) Lund, Bountiful; 26 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. L.B. Isaacson, Ogden; Mrs. Russell Scott and Mrs. Vilate Eliason, both of San Rafael, CA; Mrs. Jean Morris, Salt Lake City; Mrs. F.E. Havens, Los Angeles; Hyrum B. Thomson, Randolph, UT; Robert B. Thomson, Laketown, UT.
