One car accident claims Maladians

A one car accident near Point of the Mountain, Utah, Saturday morning [Oct 31, 1970] claimed the lives of an elderly Malad couple, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Porter. The Porters had moved here from Longmont, Colo., about two months ago to make their home. Mr. Porter, 85, driver of the vehicle, died at Cottonwood Hospital, Salt Lake City, about three hours after the accident. Mrs. Porter, 77, died enroute.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lloyd D. Olson said the northbound car apparently failed to make a slight left curve, traveled 325 feet on the right shoulder, swerved back across the road and rolled over two or three times after leaving the road on the left side. The car rolled over Mrs. Porter.

Among the survivors are Alma Reynolds, Malad, a brother of Mrs. Porter. Funeral service and burial were conducted Wednesday in Salt Lake City.
