Genesee R. Deschamps (Birth 27 Dec 1902/Death 14 Apr 1989)

MALAD- Genesee Dawson Roderick Deschamps, 86, of St. John, and a former Salt Lake City area resident, died Friday, April 14 (1989) in the Oneida County Hospital.

She was born December 27, 1902 in Weston, to William E. and Effie Smith Dawson. She was raised in Arbon Valley.

She married Elmer H. Roderick September 21, 1921 in the Logan LDS Temple. He died in 1985.

She lived in West Valley City, Utah in the Salt Lake area for many years.

She married Francis Mitchell Deschamps, March 10, 1987 in Malad.

She was a member of the LDS Church, served as Relief Society President, was on the Stake Relief Society Board, Primary Presidency, Sunday School and Young Women’s instructor, filled three stake missions and one full-time mission to Iowa.

She is survived by her husband of St. John; one son, Dee W. Roderick, Salt Lake City; three daughters, Mrs. Luane Anderson, Mrs. John (VaLois) Bybee and Mrs. Ernest (Carol) Maples, all of Salt Lake City; one step¬son, Lyle Deschamps, Idaho Falls; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ed (Yvonne) Barrus, Idaho Falls; Mrs. Terry (Paula) Morby, Loveland, Colorado; 27 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild; a brother, Gail Dawson, Boise; and four sisters, Mrs. Vance (Pat) Burchfield, Boise; Mrs. Merlin (Nina) Anderson, Orofino; Mrs. Jay (LaRee) Winn, Rexburg; and Mrs. Eldon (Dawna) Anderson, Tooele, Utah. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Claire Basset; and one sister and one brother.

Funeral services were at noon on Monday in the St. John LDS Ward Chapel. Additional funeral services were Tuesday in the Hunter LDS 18th Ward Chapel, West Valley City, Utah. Burial was in the Valley View Memorial Park, West Valley City.
