GAYLON JONES

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Malad LDS Second ward for Gaylon Jones, 19, who died Saturday morning (1954) at Tremonton of injuries sustained in a car accident, Friday.

Killed instantly in the head-on collision of two cars near Plymouth, Utah on Highway 91 was William J. McKnight, 23, of Sleepy Eye, Minn. Critically injured in the crash was Mr. McKnight’s 20-year-old bride of a week, Mrs. Nina McKnight. Mr. Jones was enroute to Malad from Utah when the accident occurred.

Gaylon Brig Jones was born at Los Angeles, Calif. February 6, 1935. He had lived in Los Angeles, Malad and Clearfield and was employed as a construction worker in Utah at the time of his death. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Jones, Clearfield, Utah; one brother, Daniel J. Jones, U. S. Army, Korea; one sister, Sandra Ronee Jones, Clearfield; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Brig W. Jones, Cherry Creek; Daniel M. Williams, Samaria.

Funeral services were conducted in the Malad LDS 2nd ward chapel with Bishop T. A. John of Cherry Creek in charge.

Family prayer was offered by Bishop John; invocation, Warren Ashton; benediction, Howell Williams; dedicatory prayer, Bishop Eldon Barlow. Speakers were J. Duffy Palmer, Morgan Harris and Bishop John. Musical numbers consisted of a vocal solo, Stillman Harris; vocal solo, Keith Evans; vocal duet, Vereen John and Wanda Napier. Prelude and postlude music was played by Mrs. Blanche Camp.
