Fredrick Gilgen, Jr.

GILGEN, FREDRICK, JR.

Fredrick Gilgen, Jr., age 94, died July 27, 1978 at the Oneida County Nursing Home following a prolonged illness.

Mr. Gilgen was born on June 23, 1884 in Bern, Switzerland, the son of Fredrick and Mary Anna Krahanbuhl Gilgen. He married Louisa Stauffer on December 18, 1907 in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death May 22, 1976.

He had farmed in the Daniels area for more than 50 years. He was a member and a High Priest in the LDS Church and had served in the Bishopric in the West Daniels Ward.

Survivors include a son, Lynn K. Gilgen, Malad; three daughters, Mrs. John H. (Irene) Gibbs, Malad; Mrs. David A. (Edna) Stone, Pocatello; Mrs. William R. (Blanche) Bailey, Salt lake City; a brother, Joseph Gilgen, Logan; two sisters, Bertha Smith, Logan; and Lena Ashliman, Idaho Falls; 26 grandchildren; 88 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
