Funeral Held For Franklin O. Madsen

Funeral services for Franklin O. Madsen, 70, who died at the Oneida County Hospital Sunday, Sept. 21, 1950 were held in the Malad Second Ward chapel. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Bishop A.G. Willie presided; Margaret Laws played the prelude and postlude; H.O. Kent offered the prayer at the home; John Roderick, invocation; Leo D. Williams, benediction, and Guy Benson dedicated the grave. The speakers were J.M. Isaacson and S.A. Hendricks. The musical numbers were furnished by Keith Evans and a duet, Leora Brown and Ruel Ipsen, accompanied by Iris Barker.

Mr. Madsen was born at Salem, Utah, November 18, 1881, a son of James E. and Brigitha Jensen Madsen. He married Mary Ann Dalton, Oct. 27, 1909 in the Salt Lake Temple. Mrs. Madsen died Dec. 19, 1950. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Cherry Creek near Malad and engaged in farming.

Mr. Madsen was an active member of the Cherry Creek LDS ward. He was an Elder and served as Sunday school superintendent for six years. He also served as trustee of the Samaria school district for a number of years. He lived at Cherry Creek for 32 years, moving to Malad in September, 1942.

Survivors include the following sons and daughters: Clifford, Reed, Dewayne and Boyd Madsen, all of Malad; Ray Madsen, Pocatello; Leland Madsen, Ellensburgh, Washington; Mrs. H.B. (Ruby) Merrill, Bingham Canyon, Utah; Mrs. Charles (Faye) Ward, Malad; one sister, Mrs. Elmer Thomas, Spanish Fork, Utah; a brother, Elmer Madsen, Draper, Utah; and 25 grandchildren.
