GARST, FRANCES L.

Mrs. Frances L. Garst, 87, Excelsior, MN, widow of Dr. V. P. Garst, long-time Malad physician, died July, 1974 in Excelsior.

Graveside services were held in the Malad City Cemetery Monday morning with the Rev. S. Norman Naugler of the Malad Presbyterian Church officiating and special service by Order of Eastern Star Acacia Chapter No.69. Services were under the direction of Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Garst was born October 11, 1886 in Carrollton, IL. A registered nurse, she married Dr. Garst August 30, 1922 in Terry, MT. They moved to Malad in 1924, where he practiced medicine for 35 years before his death.

She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. William Marshick, San Diego, and Mrs. D.C. Messer, Excelsior; seven grand children and seven great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. William Crosby Ross, LaJolla, CA. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph, killed during World War II while serving in the U.S. Air Force, and Paul, who died in 1963.
