Evelyn Thorpe Gleed

GLEED, EVELYN THORPE, October 12, 1886 – September 29, 1958

Mrs. Evelyn Thorpe Gleed, 71, a former resident of Malad and Samaria, died at her home in Logan September 29, 1958 following a short illness.

Funeral services are being conducted at Logan today and interment will be in the Malad City Cemetery.

Mrs. Gleed was born at Samaria, October 12, 1886, a daughter of Thomas and Sarah Amelia White Thorpe. She was married to William Gleed, July 22, 1904 at Malad. Mr. Gleed worked for the railroad and the family lived in various towns, spending a number of years here and the last 11 years in Logan. Mrs. Gleed was a member of the LDS Church.

Surviving are her husband, Logan; eight sons and daughters: Mrs. George (Sara) Herzog Harris, W. Levan, Logan; Mrs. Ray (Letha) Henderson Hill, Wellsville; Mrs. Kenneth (Sylvia) Hunsaker, Honeyville; Darrell T., Smithfield; D.J., Arco; Rex T., Mrs. Joseph (Arylyn) Herzog, Tooele; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters and a half sister, Mrs. Lottie Hanson, Logan; Mrs. Morgan (Millie) Colton, Malad; Mrs. Proudy Naylon, Ogden
