Ethel Russelletta Larson Colton (21 March 1908)

Malad – Ethel Russelletta Larson Colton, 79, of 585 Bannock St., died Tuesday, March 15 (1988), in Bountiful, Utah.

She was born March 21, 1908 in St. John, the daughter of Charles Lafayette (Laf) Larson and Josephine Ruth Talbot Larson. She was reared and educated in St. John and Malad and graduated from Malad High School.

She married Roscoe Colton June 3, 1926. The marriage was later solemnized February 14, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple.

The couple moved to California where they worked in Big Bear Lodge in Big Bear, California, and then moved back to Malad for a short time. They moved to Caldwell and bought a farm and then moved back to Malad in 1945 where they owned and operated a farm until time of retirement.

She was active in the LDS Church where she was a Relief Society and Primary teacher and in the Primary presidency. She had been a record keeper, as well as having served two stake missions. She was Oneida County genealogist and was involved in the MIA.

Her hobbies included patchwork quilting, sewing and genealogy.

She is survived by her husband of Malad; three sons, Eugene LaMar Colton, Chubbuck, Lawrence Boyd Colton, Richland, Washington, and Robert Charles Colton, North Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Kenneth Larson, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 19 in the Malad First Ward Chapel with Bishop Sheldon Jensen officiating. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
