Sarah Amelia “Millie” Thorpe Colton (Birth – March 21, 1894)

Sarah Amelia Millie Thorpe Colton, 91, of 539 W. 500 North, died Saturday, April 6, 1985, in an Oneida County nursing home of causes incident to age.

She was born March 21, 1894, in Samaria, Idaho, a daughter of Thomas and Sarah Amelia Wight Thorpe.

She married Morgan J. Colton on Nov. 26, 1913, in Malad, Idaho. He died Sept. 7, 1968.

She grew up and was educated in Samaria and had been a life-time area resident.

Mrs. Colton had worked for several years for Horsley’s Grocery Store and later for Oneida Grocery Store.

Her hobbies included all types of handiwork and cooking.

She was a member of the LDS Church and had served in the Primary and as a visiting teacher.

Surviving are one son and four daughters, Thomas T. Colton, Mrs. John (Grace) Hill, Mrs. Ervin (Josephine) Allen, Mrs. Chris (Ardyth) Toland and Mrs. Ralph (Beth) Davis, all of Malad, Idaho; 21 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 18 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held noon Tuesday in the Malad LDS 1st Ward Chapel, with Bishop Sheldon Jensen officiating.

Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 North tonight from 7 to 9 and on Tuesday prior to services.
