Erma P. Thomas, 75, of Malad, passed away Monday, June 9, at the Oneida County Nursing Home from the effects of Lou Gehrigs Disease.
She was born December 6, 1921 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Abraham and Margaret Camp Peterson. She was raised in Malad, attended high school there and in American Fork, Utah.
She married Stanley Thomas on June 23, 1939 in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on March 29, 1965. Stanley passed away on August 1, 1977.
Erma was an active member of the LDS church. She served many years as a Primary Teacher, Visiting Teacher and Compassionate Service Leader. She enjoyed attending the Temple regularly.
She had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with her many friends. She was an excellent cook and homemaker and devoted her entire life to her family. Together with her husband, she began a successful grocery business in Malad. They had also lived for a short time in Northern California.
She is survived by three daughters, a daughter-in-law, and four sons; Nancy (Lynn) Nalder, Pocatello; Ann (Jon) Ward, Idaho Falls; Connie (Doug) Albrechtsen, Logan, Utah; Sue Thomas, Henderson, Nevada; Davis S. (Rochelle) Thomas, La Mirada, California; F. Dennis (Brenda) Thomas, Malad; Tim (Gretchen) Thomas, Ketchum, Idaho; and Ned P. Thomas, Malad. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers: Olive (Leo) Bowen, Orem, Utah; Emma Jean (Edward) Cook, Cleveland, Ohio; Clifford (Lunetta) Peterson; Rancho Santa Marguerita, California; Marvin (RaeLene) Peterson, Willard, Utah.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Marvin; a son-in-law, Lynn Nalder; her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
The family wishes to express heart-felt appreciation to the staff of the Oneida County nursing Home and Home Care Service.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 12, at 12 noon in the Malad 2nd/5th Ward Chapel. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
In lieu of Flowers the family suggests contributions to the Oneida County Nursing Home. Services are under the direction of the Horsley-Funeral Home.
