MRS. EMILY THOMAS DIES WEDNESDAY

MRS. Emily Maria Reese Thomas died February 13, 1957 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Edna Walc in Ogden, following a five weeks’ illness.

She was born April 29, 1870 at Cherry Creek, a daughter of Moroni and Emily Vaughan Rees. She was married to Joseph Hyrum Thomas February 5, 1889 at Malad. Mr. Thomas died nine years ago. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the LDS Church and was active as a Relief Society teacher in the Malad Third Ward for 45 years.

Surviving are three sons and six daughters: Wm. R. Thomas, Malad; Leo R. Thomas, Salt Lake City; Leonard Thomas, Blackfoot; Mrs. Lawrence (Ethel) Gibbons, Declo, ID; Mrs. Henry (Leona) Brown, Los Altos, CA; Mrs. John (Emma) Andrews, Eureka, UT; Mrs. Leland (Ruth) Curtis, Mrs. Edna Walc, Ogden; Mrs. Manual (Margaret) Burgos, Parks Air Force Base, California; also 37 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; two brothers, Gomer V. Rees, Ogden; Dr. Thos. R. Rees, Washington, DC.

Funeral services were held February 16, 1957 in the Malad Third LDS Ward Chapel with Counselor Royal B. Jenson officiating. At the home, the family prayer was offered by Chad White. At the chapel prelude and postlude music was by Margaret Laws; Invocation by Bishop Hubert Gleed; Vocal solo by Louis Yearsley; Obituary and Remarks by Royal B. Jensen, Poem by Mary Rose Jones; Speaker, W.W. Thomas, Violin Selection by Fern Willie; Speaker Howell Williams; Vocal Duet by Guy and Nellie Gleed, Benediction by Morris Bushman. At the cemetery, Thomas D. Evans dedicated the grave.
