Funeral services were held at the Pleasantview Ward Chapel Monday, under the direction of former Bishop Hyrum W. Jones for Mrs. Emeline Eliza Waldron Thomas, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T.J. Lewis on September 25, 1936.

Mrs. Thomas, the first white child born in Malad Valley, was born at Oregon Springs on October 9, 1856, a daughter of Benjamin and Emeline Savage Waldron.

She was married on Jan. 5, 1874 at the Endowment House in Salt Lake City to Charles R. Thomas, who preceded her in death 19 years ago.

She was the mother of 13 children, nine of whom survive: Benjamin Thomas, Rupert, ID; Mrs. Alma Wight and Charles E. Thomas, Pleasantview, ID; Mrs. J.F. Huntsman, Ogden, UT; Mrs. Omer Cordon, Rigby, ID; Mrs. Bert Willie, Holbrook, ID; Mrs. T.J. Lewis, St. John, ID; Mrs. S.L. Jeppson, Caldwell, ID and Mrs. W.H. McCallie, Los Angeles. Fifty-three grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren also survive her. Mrs. Thomas is the last of the Benjamin Waldron family.

She has been honored many times as a pioneer. In August, 1931, she assisted in the unveiling of the marker erected at the old fort in honor of the first pioneers. She was a special guest at the dedication of the great bridge that was built over the Boise River. Mrs. Thomas was a devout member of the Church.
