FUNERAL TUESDAY FOR ANNABEL THOMAS

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Malad Third Ward LDS Chapel for Mrs. Emma Annabel Ashton Thomas, who died May 14, 1966 at a Salt Lake City hospital of a heart ailment.

Bishop Lon W. Corbridge officiated at the serivce. Family prayer was offered by Eugene Tew; the invocation by D. LeRoy Thomas, and the benediction by Jesse Hughes. Speakers were Dana S. Benson, who read a tribute and the obituary; Charlene P. Corbridge, Ralph W. Harding and Bishop Corbridge. Special musical numbers were vocal solos, Jenkin L. Palmer, Eldon Corbridge; duet, June Crowther and Norma Gleed. Myra Jean John was the accompanist and also played the prelude and postlude.

Dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery was offered by Wilford Ashton. Casket bearers were Floyd Ashton, LaVar Ashton, Jay Hunter, Lynn Hunter, Jess P. Ward and Leland Jones. Flowers were arranged by members of the Third Ward Relief Society, Mrs. Reba Henrie, president.

Interment was directed by Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thomas was born March 15, 1910 at Samaria, ID, a daughter of James Lehi and jane Thorpe Ashton.

She was married to LaMar J. Thomas on Feb. 5, 1930 at Malad. The marriage was solemnized May 28, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Sunday School teacher, MIA teacher and Relief Society counselor. She was a member of the Malad Chapter of American War Mothers.

Surviving are her husband; sons and daughters, Elton Ashton, Malad; Mrs. Eugene (Shirley) Tew, Fort Bliss, TX; Mrs. James (Marlene) Blake, Lumberton, ND; Mrs. Jerry (DeAnn) Burnett, Ogden, and adopted niece and nephew, Leslie and Cherryl Braker of Malad; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Dave (Josephine) Hunter, Rockland; Wilford Ashton, Great Falls, MT; Mrs. L.O. (Irene) Davey, Laguna Beach, CA; Floyd Ashton, San Diego, CA; and LaVar Ashton, Salt Lake City.
