Ellis Peter Christiansen (Birth – Sept. 3, 1906)

Ellis Peter Christiansen, 79, 120 N. Lincoln, died Monday morning (September 1985) at his home following an apparent heart attack.

He was born Sept. 3, 1906, to Peter and Elinora Jensen Christiansen. He graduated from Downey High School on May 29, 1925, and attended USAC in Logan, Utah, for one year.

On Dec. 22, 1933, he married Julia Gibbs in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They made their home in Downey prior to moving to Pocatello 48 years ago. For the past 46 years, they have resided in the same home.

He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad Company as a clerk for 32 years, retiring Sept. 1, 1971.

He was a member of the LDS Church and had served in various capacities, including a mission in Denmark from 1928-1931, Seventies president, member of Sunday school and Mutual stake boards, high councilman, and stake and ward clerk.

He enjoyed reading and traveling.

Survivors include his wife of Pocatello, two daughters, Mrs. Ben (Sharol Ann) McLaughlin, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Grant (Janet) Cammack, Rockland; six grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. John (Beatrice) Veeninga, Paradise, Calif.; and Clista Campbell, Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Orrion and Willis Christiansen; and a sister, Afton Nisson.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Pocatello LDS Stake Center at 655 S. Grant with Bishop Curtis Lee of the First Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Manning Funeral Chapel. On Thursday, friends may call at the Pocatello LDS First Ward chapel from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
