Ellen Magdalene Dredge Castleton, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, born to Jesse H. Dredge and Eliza Rosetta Kunz, in Malad, Idaho, July 9, 1899, died October 10, 1994 in Puyallup, Washington.

Married Arthur Robert Castleton July 1, 1921, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died January 17, 1985. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attended Malad public schools and Brigham Young College in Logan, Utah, she filled a full-time mission in the Northern States and also served as a stake missionary. She was also a teacher in Sunday School, Primary, MIA, Seminary, and Relief Society, and also very active in genealogical research in her ward and in her husband’s and her own family lines for many years.

She had two children, a daughter, who lived only five weeks and a son, Robert D. Castleton of Waldport, Oregon. She also reared two daughters of her husband’s previous marriage to Jane McKay of Malad, Idaho; they preceded her in death.

She has 15 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 47 great-great-grandchildren, and many more who call her Grandmother.

Four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. She has one living brother, Calvin C. Dredge of Rupert, Idaho and four sisters, Mrs. Elaine (Rosell) Mills, Malad, Idaho; Mrs. Ruth (Merle) Swanson, Mesa, Ariz; Mrs. Rose D. (Rulon) Ward, Sugar City, Idaho; and Mrs. Norma (James B.) Hill, St. George.

Funeral services will be held at the Larkin Chapel, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, at 12 noon, Monday, October 17, 1994. Friends may call at the mortuary between 6:30 and 8 p.m. Sunday, October 16th, and one hour previous to the funeral on Monday.

Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
