Arthur Robert Castleton (Birth 16 May 1868)

Malad, Idaho – Funeral services for Arthur Robert Castleton, 87, Malad businessman, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Malad Third Ward Chapel.

Mr. Castleton died of injuries suffered in a fall Monday (31 Jan 1956). He was born May 16, 1868, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of James Joseph and Sarah Frances Brown Castleton. He was raised and educated in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah.

Mr. Castleton managed the Malad Lumber and Hardware Co. several years and had been justice of the peace in Oneida County.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a high priest in Malad Third Ward. He was Malad Stake chorister, ward chorister in Holbrook, Pleasant View, and Malad First wards. He was a member of the Malad Stake Sunday School Board at the time of his death.

He was married to Ellen Wooley, May 20, 1889, in the Logan Temple.

Mr. Castleton is survived by his widow, Malad; five sons and two daughters; Arthur, Salt Lake City; Harold J., Garland, Box Elder County, Utah; Melvin E., Tremonton, Utah; Ruby Flatin, In Minnesota; Leonard S., Montpelier; Mrs. Ruth Davis and Leon J. Castleton, Malad. He had 24 grandchildren, 38, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the family home Thursday evening and Friday until time of services. Burial will be in Malad Cemetery under the direction of Benson Funeral Home of Malad.

FUNERAL FRIDAY FOR ARTHUR R. CASTLETON

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Malad 3rd ward for Arthur R. Castleton who died January 31 (1956). Bishop Hubert Gleed officiated.

Family prayer at the home was offered by Harold Castleton; invocation, Colen Sweeten Sr.; benediction, Charles J. Nielsen; dedicatory prayer, Ralph H. Castleton. Musical numbers were prelude and postlude, Melvin Atkinson; song, Ward Brothers; instrumental duet, Fern Willie and Melvin Atkinson; vocal solo, Jenkin Palmer, Speakers were Bishop Gleed, Joseph Isaacson, W. H. Rutter, Thomas D. Evans. Casket bearers were Arthur Castleton, Melvin Castleton, Harold Castleton, Roy Davis, Don Castleton, Leonard Castleton.
