Ella Palmer dies at nursing home

Ella Colton Palmer, 90, died late Tuesday, December 11,[1979] at the Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 15, 1889, at Malad to Edward William and Louise Clark Colton. She attended school in Malad and also was a graduate of Albion State College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school in Woodruff for two years. On April 12, 1911, she married Joseph Palmer in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They owned and operated a ranch near Malad for several years. Mr. Palmer died July 29, 1975.

She was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a member of the Malad Stake Choir for *0 years. She had also served on the Malad Stake Mutual Board for 20 years. She was also involved in several other activities in the church. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Survivors include one son and one daughter, George A. Palmer of Malad; Mrs. Al (Ella Jean) Thackeray, Ogden, Utah; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Roscoe Colton, Malad, and Mrs. Delora[sic] Long, Yucipa[sic], Calif.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the LDS Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Garth Sweeten officiating. Funeral arrangements were by the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
