Worthy Woman Called By Death
Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Second ward tabernacle for Mrs. Elizabeth Powell, wife of Chas. Powell, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John W. Clark, Monday [Feb. 13, 1939], after a long illness.
Mrs. Powell was born in Rhymmey, Wales England, June 6, 1868, and came to America with her husband in 1886, ***ing in Pennsylvania and Ohio until 1906 when the family moved to Idaho, locating at Cherry Creek, seven miles south of Malad.
She is survived by her husband, a son, Thomas Powell of Ruth, Nevada, one daughter, Mrs. John Clark of Malad, and five grandchildren, Charles Powell and Kathsyn of Ruth, Nevada; Elizabeth Hunter of Los Angeles; Isabel Palmer of Ogden and Emma Jean Clark of Malad.
Mrs. Powell was a member of the L. D. S. church and stake Relief Society. She served as nurse and mid-wife for many years in the Cherry Creek section. Mr. and Mrs. Powell resided on their farm in Cherry Creek until two years ago when they moved to Malad. For the past year they made their home with Mr. and Mrs. John W. Clark.
