Samaria Woman Called To Rest
Mrs. David Hughes of Samaria was called to her final rest on Monday, January 9, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Thos. J. Lewis after an illness of four weeks with diabetes.
Mrs. Hughes, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Thomas, was born at Samaria on the 27th day of April 1875, and has lived at Samaria and Pleasantview all her life.
She was a very active member of the L.D.S. Church, and occupied several church positions, being president of the Samaria Relief Society until about one month ago when she was released because of ill health. She was also a member of the Y.L.M.I.A. Stake Board for a number of years.
Mrs. Hughes was the mother of ten children, five of whom are still living. She is survived by her husband, David Hughes, her mother, Mrs. C.R. Thomas, her five children, Chester Hughes of Malad; Mrs. Lester Willie of Holbrook; Mrs. Ross Smith of Holbrook, and Lavenia and Blanche Hughes of Samaria, and nine brothers and sister, Benjamin Thomas of Rupert; Charles Thomas of Pleasantview; Mrs. Alma Wight of Pleasantview, Mrs. Freeman Huntsman of Ogden; Mrs. O.S. Cardon of Rigby, Idaho; Mrs. R.H. Willie of Buist; Mrs. Thos. J. Lewis of St. John; Mrs. S.L. Jeppson of Springhill, Canada, and Mrs. W.H. McCallie of Los Angeles, California.
Funeral services are to be held at the Samaria Ward chapel on Friday at 1 o’clock.
