SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. RACHEL THOMAS

Funeral services for Eliza Leona Thomas, 52, who died December 24, 1948 at the Dee Hospital in Ogden of a heart ailment were held December 27 at the Malad Stake Tabernacle. Bishop Melvin Yearsley of the St. John Ward presided.

Speakers at the service were James B. Jones, Dr.. O.H. Mabey and W.H. Rutter. Musical numbers consisted of a song by Carol and Carma Crowther, accompanied by Rosemary Crowther; song by Margaret E. Jones, accompanied by Eunice Tovey; song by Mrs. Fay Hanson and Mrs. Wanda Napier, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Laws. Prelude and postlude were played by Mrs. Marion Talbot. The opening prayer was by Arch Harris and the closing prayer by Parley Carlson. Dedication of the grave by J. Guy Benson. Interment was in the St. John Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas was born August 17, 1895 at Logan, UT, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Heber Olsen. She was married to James Thomas, April 30, 1914 and they have made their home at St. John since that time.

She is survived by her husband, three sons, Harvey, Heber and Boyd; one daughter, Mrs. Alene Thorpe; four sisters, Mrs. Ralph Stevenson, Ogden; Mrs. Algie Rossitter, Idaho Falls; Mrs. George Crocket, Preston; Mrs. Vern Hovey, Melville, UT; two brothers, Heber R. Olsen, Ogden; Dean Olsen, Idaho Falls, and five grandchildren.
